SEVEN GIRLS HEAD INTO THE DESERT: Day Two (OTR)

Day two, seven girls packed into two vehicles and left Austin for Marfa. We aimed to be gone by 7 am, but ended up leaving a little before 8 am. Typical... haa. 

Who: Us, Josephine, Erica, Jamie, Jessica, and Amory 

What: Roadtrip and camping

When: 8.17-8.21 

Where: Marfa + Balmorhea 

Why: Erica Heidepriem's Birthday

Texas is so big and yet so small. We bumped into this fella along the way

The Breakdown:

Two tanks of gas per car from Austin to Marfa

Two coolers (Bell peppers, cucumbers, apples, almond butter, peaches, trail mix, hummus, bagels, etc)

Shoes: boots, sandals, Flip flops, running shoes

Clothing: undies and bras, tanks, button downs (denim and flanel), 2 bikinis, denim cut- offs, genie pants, denim pants, dresses, hoodie, and boot socks.

Accessories: hats, jewelry (Ax + Apple, Bueno Bueno, and Chrisrann), sunnies (Tumbleweeds),

FEATHERS BOUTIQUE: Ax+Apple Trunk Show (Austin, TX)

I know we've posted about Feathers Boutique before (click here to read), but when you love something, you keep going back to it. Last week we took a middle of the week trip to Austin to support the ladies of Ax + Apple and check out their trunk show.

The evening was full of amazing females, cocktails, buying Ax+Apple jewelry (and other goodies), lusting over the merchandise, and making a few new friends. Feathers Boutique is probably my favorite clothing/accessory shop in Austin. If I ever have a walk-in closet, I will need it to look like this place with all the vintage goodies included.

Erica and her dang love for robes + kimonos. Love that girl.

The last time we went to Austin, Brandi spotted these loafers and told me if they were still there when we returned for the trunk show she would get them. Between then and the trunk store, we went to at least 32 thrift stores (in Houston and Austin), searching for better. Nada. She was so happy to see they were still waiting for her tiny feet when we got to Feathers that night. Look at that smile...

Of course I've had my eyes on something a little more expensive. These beauties... If I owned these, I'm quite confident they would never leave my feet. I'll have to drool a little longer.

You name it, Feathers has it.

Orange boots, white boots, purple boots, Square toes, round toes, pointy toes. It's so easy to spend 3+ hours in Feathers Boutique before realizing how much time has passed.

I ended up buying the Maya and I think the Shaman will be my next Ax+Apple purchase.

We fell in love with the ladies of Ax+Apple and can't wait to get them down to Houston.

Packing our bags...

Kelly and I are packing up the necessities for our three day work/play trip. We leave tomorrow and the goal is to pack light. And yes, this is a road trip. The only thing on the def plans list is The AX & APPLE trunk show at Feathers. We are purposely not making plans the rest of the time. Whatever comes up, comes up!

This is the point where I know I am forgetting something:( 

Jacob told us to go stay at a hotel but I think it's more fun to slumber it up with friends. But if we did what Hotels do you like in Austin? Must have awesome pool.
