Chairs /// Table /// Rug /// Bench /// Glass  ///

Being renters I never really thought about buying new furniture for our place. I just assumed we would buy furniture after we bought a house because you never know what is going to fit or what style will go with the house. Well, that all changed a few months back when we decided we were not going to buy for awhile. We talked it over with our financial planner and it doesn't really make sense for us to buy now, especially since we don't even know how long we want to stay here. It's such a big commitment and with our travel schedule it would just be a big stress to deal with all the things home owners have to handle. So little by little we are working on making our rental feel more like home. Jacob and I love having our friends over so we decided to start on the living room and dining room. We still have a ways to go because we don't want to just rush and buy everything at one place, and we don't want to buy things that don't have a purpose or wasn't thought out. It has been a fun process so far, I just wish we had more time with it. Right now we are trying to decide on what photos from our travels to enlarge and where we should get this done. I had a lot of suggestions on IG, Arifact Uprising is one we keep hearing about so we might go with that. So far we are loving our dining room table and chairs, we made a rule when we made the purchase that we couldn't eat in the living room anymore but that didn't really take effect until we gave up Hulu and Netflix. Killing that bad habit has been amazing for our house. Conversations at the table with each other and friends is way better than T.V. We are super excited and eagerly waiting for our bench to be delivered so that we can have more people around our table for dinner.

Things on my table /// You know how I said I like things having a purpose or story behind them? Well I'll explain why I picked these things for display, the succulent is from my best friends wedding so it's a reminder of love and commitment, the coral is from our travels, the flower is from Jacob, and the big wooden chip holder from Mexico is a wedding present from a family friend. I don't know if it's a chip holder,  I just didn't know what else to call it and we have used it for chips in the past. So that is our dining room set up so far. Still looking into Bar carts, Buffets, and light fixtures. Below are some items I have my eye on.

COSTA RICA /// VILLA TORTUGA

Untitled

Back in July on our epic #wethotcostaricansummer we stayed at the Villa Tortuga. We waited last minute to book our room because we didn't really know how many people were actually coming on the trip. Originally it was going to be 5, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 13!! We booked the Casa Tortuga because this was the largest option available, and could sleep 8. Seven of us flew out on a Saturday and spent the day traveling to Villa Tortuga (2.5 hours from airport), buying groceries, hanging at the pool, and checking out the beach. This was our first time staying at Villa Tortuga so we  explored the area and found it this was the perfect place to stay on this trip. The owner, David was there to greet us and was super helpful with anything we needed to know, really cool dude.  Everywhere we needed to get to was walking distance, the board rental here was only $10 a day, and the best hidden gem was Tony. Tony is the security guard roaming the property, but he's so much more than that, he became our friend. We found out Tony loves to cook so one day after the boys went out and caught some fish Tony prepared a feast. Handmade chips and salsa, a fresh salad, ceviche, tuna steaks, sushi (he taught us how to make it), fish tacos... I can't remember everything he made because there was so much!

We have stayed at many different places in Nosara but right now Villa Tortuga is our favorite place for a group!

Day job /// Hair Stylist at Do or Dye Tx

Favorite thing about my Job /// Every day is completely different from the last and I get to hear so many different stories from so many different people.

Least favorite thing about my job /// 1. When clients are late.  2. I can't wear my nice clothes because I ruin them EVERYTIME.

Hair product I'm obsessed with /// Living Proof Dry Shampoo

One hair tool I cannot live without /// My curl stick.

What is in my hair /// Living proof Restore Shampoo and Condtioner, restore instant repair, full root lifting spray, restore instant protection.... and then dry shampoo on dirty hair. Everything is Living Proof. We just started carrying it at our salon so I am trying it all out. I also love the Flex hair spray.

Products I mostly use on clients /// UN. TANGLEDStyle Extender, Anti Gravity, 5 in 1 styling treatment, Flex Hairspray.

Where I find  Hair-spiration /// People watching everywhere I go, Children's naturally sun kissed hair, Surfers, Pinterest, my co-workers...

Who I look up to in the Hair Biz /// Charlie Price and his out of the box traveling career, he's super inspiring and such a good dude. IG @hairbycharlie

Hair that I covet ///  This

Hair Advice /// Your hair is your best accessory and you wear it everyday, it is a part of you.... so don't be cheap about it. You deserve better than that. Invest in the proper hair products to keep it healthy and achieve the look you want.

Advice to other stylists /// Listen to your clients and ask them questions about what they want, sometimes they don't know how to explain. Also DON'T TELL YOUR CLIENTS ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS / DRAMA, it freaks them out, they leave feeling heavy and they won't come back. This is the clients time to vent or relax. I know this because they are probably my new client and they tell me all about it.

How to find a stylist best for you /// Look around, if you see someones hair you like and desire something similar ask them who their stylist is. Look on instagram, a lot of stylists post their work.

Something I need to work on /// Responding to emails, texts, and voicemails. I get so overwhelmed and by the end of the day I forget or it's too late to respond. So if you have tried getting in with me and I haven't responded I am so sorry. Pre booking has been amazing.
