A MUCHO BUENO PLAYLIST /// The Fistful Of Soul Warm Up

Untitled

Good morning + happy Friday!

In Houston, there is one Friday every month that rules above all others and that Friday is here. There's a very short list of things Brandi I love more than dancing, so the third Friday of every month is our absolute favorite. We bust out the fanny packs and our dancing shoes and head over to Big Top for a sweaty night of a Fistful of Soul.

Here's a playlist to remind you to get up offa that thing! Whether you are flying solo tonight or going out with a group, I hope you find some time to dance and celebrate how good life is.

\\ Join the party //

We will also be next door at the Continental Club tonight for the Fire Moth album release show. I just might explode into confetti before the night is over.

beautiful beasts of dance

This past weekend my friend Layla and I exchanged names of companies and choreographers that we are currently into. She told me of a company that she took a workshop from and damn...

I like the costumes, I like the choreography, I like the dancers, I like the music. They are perfect to me. Their use of levels appears effortless.

I love watching the girl in Green.

Here's another company that I like called Grupo Corpo, but have never seen perform in person. They are from brazil and have amazing control and release. Watch their battements and attitudes! The amount of energy they sustain is inspiring. THEY ARE BEASTS! The only thing I dislike is the biketards with black jazz shoes. It shortens the leg.

got to dance?

Recently my schedule has changed and my cup O' joe must be taken on the go! While i'm rushing to work/trying to wake up, I have found The Octopus Project to be my friend. Their 2007  record Hello, Avalanche is the perfect soundtrack to your just out of  bed morning fog.
If your mornings are like mine, you must listen to this Hello, Avalanche in the car and invent some new moves. For the not so creative movers, the tradition shimmy will do. Some personal favorites from this album include Truck, Black Blizzard/Red Umbrella, and I Saw the Bright Shinies.

p.s. It doesn't hurt that their album art is adorable!
