Mama G and some tunes

Hello!
My cute little Mama G came into town this weekend. She originally came into town to help me look for a place to live in Dallas, but it's looking like I'll be moving to Nashville instead!

Guess who else came in town...
The lovely Amanda Shires and Rod Picott!

Since Mama G and I ended up with all this free time, we decided to drive into Dallas to see/hear some talent. The show was at the All Good Cafe Saturday night and it was the perfect show to take my mom to. Also playing was Doug Burr (with Glen Farris).

It was the first time I had ever seen/heard them and I hope I can see them again before I flee the state.
It was an all around AWESOME night. Good music, good company, good environment and red wine :)
The rest of the weekend was dedicated to finding a dress for my friends wedding and a dress for the rehearsal dinner. My mom bought a red sassy dress for the wedding (post pictures later) and I found one for the rehearsal dinner and put it on hold to think it over.
Thank you to everyone who gave their opinion. I DID go back and buy it ANNND I wore it to work immediately out of excitement!

Getting back to music, I've been on a bit of a kick lately. I have recently seen The Diamond Center, Rodney Parker, Josh Ritter, Amanda Shires, Doug Burr, and this weekend I'll be seeing The Literary Greats. I've seen them in Dallas, Houston and Austin and it's always a good time! Below are some photos I took of TLG at SXSW this year.

If you are in Dallas/Denton/Ft. Worth, you should come out this weekend and say hello.

p.s. I need to mix it up...anyone recommend any bands that I can shake it to? I need some birthday/dance music.

are you good at being a girl?

what do you put on everyday when you get out of the shower? do you have a routine? my cousin ginny (see below) is such a "good girl" as in she puts lotion on all over, takes care of her face, puts on her make- up, and blow dry/styles her hair, always smells good, always clean shaven or waxed, and is the prime example of a woman who takes care of herself.
i .... am a "bad girl" trying to be a "good girl"
until recently i didn't use lotion, didn't moisturize, never got facials, never washed my face..who am i kidding im still not very good at being a girl but i'm trying!

here are some of the things that help me in my mission to become a better girl!!!!

1. vintage rings and wedding band.
2. cactus bueno bueno key necklace.
3. silver branch ring by a local designer in new york. (i forgot the designer)
4. jar from anthropologie on sale for 3.99 (i put my bobby pins in it) jacob got me this on our 2 yr anniversary.
5. smiths lip balm - minted rose you can get it at sephora or anthropologie. i like the tingle on my lips.
6. aquage sea salt spray- in love with this spray, its always on my hair.
7. kiehl's body lotion- amazing makes my skin feel silky. my friend tif introduced me to this and wow!
8. kiehls face moisturizer with spf 15- i use everyday now which is something i just started doing last year.
9. lemon butter from lush- i purchased this for jacob in new york but we share it bc it helps with my hands in cuticles. (they are in water shampooing all day so they get rough) i love this stuff!
10. dust it aka "magic powder" creates definition and volume and adds just the right messy to my hair.
11. moroccan oil- hair miracle. conditioning, protects hair from sun, provides shine, smells amazing, heat protectant, everyone should use this product basically acts ike sunscreen for your hair.
12. A&F fierce. (don't laugh) im allergic(as in get sick to my stomach by the smell) to perfume but this doesn't hurt me. i love the smell and i get compliments all the time.
13. this is my other scent. red flower oil spray (imogene + willie.). its a type of amber oil, since jacob didn't like my regular amber oil scent he got me one that he did like. this store is the coolest!

my one redeeming quality is my toenails are always painted. i love pedicures and if my toenails look good i feel pretty.

* my new thing is facials thanks to ginny lee 713-471-6731! if you need a facial or wax job give her a call. she's your girl if you live in houston! amazing!!! she is the only one i trust for a brazillian!
her location is 4326 westheimer road at satori salon (highland village)

OH AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY KASSI! WE LOVE YOU MUCHO MUCHO!
you are a totally a genuine knockout! hope you had fun today!

so far today...

woke up. exchanged cards over coffee, played him "jamocha" bc he hasnt heard it since our wedding, he made me breakfast and i was out the door.

1. i went to a brazillian keratin treatment (hair) class. education is always a must in this industry! so fun!
2. jacob and i went to lunch with our friends yvette and grace at bayou city seafood.
3. then we made a trip to anthropologie to look for a bedspread...another traditional 2 yr gift. (failed)
4. then we drove to amy's ice cream for a treat and to take our 2 year anniversary photo booth shot.
5. then we split up to run errands...like bank, shop for products, and post office... i went overboard with the product shopping (for my salon)
6. now we are checking on grammy...she had eye surgery and looks like she has red eyeshadow on...so the rest of our fun will be here at home so we can take care of her.

7. after this post we are going to create something together. we want to camp out in the backyard but it might snow! so if that happens we will build a tent over our bed. then we will feel like we are on vacation:)

oh and jacob said since today is special that he will watch the bachlor with me. HAHA!
he never does! he just makes comments from the other room (but knows their names???)

i made this lil collage for our wall. i tore out a magazine page with ryan tatars photos and attached it to a canvas with spray adhesive. then used a sharpie for the #2 and taped our polaroid to it. still havent decided where to put the photobooth ones.

we always take a polaroid and photo booth pic on anniversaries/valentines day.
polaroid photo: we both wore our presents "cotton shirts" its the traditional gift for 2 years.
